of the 32 world cup teams, the only one i actively hate won.

ROME IN FLAMES.

it wouldn't be hard, one grease fire and the whole country would be charred to the ground by noon tomorrow.

It's weird how sports can alter your perceptions. I used to hate france, now I can't wait to go back some day.

So marth is one of my better characters now...who knew?

Favorites now, in this order, are shiek, jigglypuff, marth. as if anyone cares =X

If anyone could help me analyze the following short story, i'd be VERY grateful. It's only 3 paragraphs long, and I just need to do an overview for my class tomorrow. I think I get it, but if anyone could shed some light on their take on it, that'd be absolutely fantastic. Especially the third paragraph. the bowl and the tangerine seems...huH?

This is Why We Can Never Have Nice Things

At age eleven, I murder the coffee table. I gouge with every available implement: thumbtacks, Lefty scissors, the plastic hand of my Barbie accomplice (who really should have known better). It is a slow death. In the end, there is nowhere to hide the body. When I am finally caught, the pads of my fingers fill the cracks of my homemade disaster. It is the stupidest lie I have ever told.

When my mother is dying, her skin sucking her bones like tentacles, we discuss important details: her curio cabinet with tiny vases and fragile teacups; clothes in her closet still in their store wrappers. She’s saving them for a special occasion; the discovery of a new planet, the victory of a coup in a small foreign country.

The invitation comes at two thirty in the morning. "Would you like to come and see the body?" I am just awake. In the tangled blur of consciousness, there is a woman plucking a perfect nectarine from a blue crystal bowl with slim and beckoning fingers. The most beautiful part is her hands reaching.

Today I wrote a song for MLR and this --

What were your three favorite bands or musical artists?
1. Smashing Pumpkins
2. Radiohead
3. U2

What was your favorite outfit?
freshman year, black jeans, black shirt, black everything.
sophomore year, jeans and a smashing pumpkins shirt
junior year, jeans and a radiohead shirt
senior year, khakis and a polo shirt...
i was one walking identity crisis

What was up with your hair?
Long, then short, then long, then kinda short.

Who were your best friends?
Drew, Chance, Joe, John, Jaime

Did you take the bus?
Mommy dropped me off until i got my license, then i drove. I was so bummed out when we had to park along miramonte sophomore year, i thought it was the longest walk on the planet. Little did I know that the farthest spot possible to park in high school was closer than the closest spot in college.

Where did you work?
I worked at toys 'r' us for about 3 weeks, and blockbuster for about 2 or 3 months.

Who did you have a crush on?
i never really had a high school "crush." I always just had a crush on natalie portman. I guess my senior year i wanted a piece of the mitch pretty bad.

Did you fight with your parents?
not after my freshman year

Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?
Nat.

Did you smoke cigarettes?
not really.....here and there, i guess. I probably smoked less than 20 in the 4 years i was in high school, and I never did AT school

Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack because you were too nervous to find your locker?
I wasn't too nervous to find my locker, but I didn't lug my books around either. I left them all at home, and never brought them to school, unless i knew in advance i'd need it, but I never cared. This practice eventually translated into my current college practice, which is not even buying my textbooks at all, and if i have an assignment out of one, I either borrow it, or don't do it. I dunno how I have a 3.5 overall GPA

Did you have a 'clique'?
Yeah, we were pretty tight knit. Me, Jaime, the dobb, J-mart, drew, joe, john, chance. we never fit into one of the stereotyped high school clique types though (jocks, skaters, stoners, band kids, etc)...we were kinda like the U.N. of clique types, since we were all really different, other than the fact we all listened to U2.

Did you have "The Max" like Zach, Kelly, and Slater?
is this a saved by the bell thing? having only seen 2 episodes in my life, both of them on Jaime's couch, completely wasted, at 5:00 am, I really can't say for sure, but I'm guessing The Max is something like The Peach Pit from 90210, or that place that charles' mom owned on charles in charge. In which case, no, not really. depending on the activity, it was someone's basement. Video games - john's basement. Board games - Jaime's basement. Movies - my basement.

Did you have any other self-destructive habits?
Yes. I was a severe kleptomaniac (the summer after high school i found somewhere between 20 and 40 textbooks in my house that i had stolen, most were from classes i had never taken). I dunno if that's self destructive or not, but I never did coke or anything, so i guess this'll have to do

What had you grown out of by senior year?
I'd grown out of being a shithead to people I didn't know or misunderstood just cause we came from different crowds. I made a ton of friends who i never thought i'd get along with senior year.

What have you not grown out of yet?
um....i dunno? I'm pretty much a completely different person than i was like 6 years ago, but.....i still love video games, i think that's the one thing that's the same.

Admit it, were you popular?
freshman year, i was the biggest loser in the universe
the last 3 years i got more and more "friendly" i guess, but i never was really popular. By the time i graduated, i was at the point where i knew most of my class by first name, but.....

Who did you want to be just like?
Trent Reznor, Johnny Greenwood from radiohead, or Bill Clinton.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
A drugged up rockstar. true story.

Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?
in college, drinking heavily and hopefully still childless. at least i'm 3 for 3 on that one!

<lj:music>Mad TV , god this show is stupid</lj:music>

The show last night was the hottness. I don't want to sound modest or anything, but lenore destroyed the competition. We also made a sassy denim and leopard print vest that we managed to auction for a whopping $25!!!!

My conversation with Adam Lancaster after the show --
him: "hey man, what's up"
me: "uh..hi"
Him: "Listen, I'm really sorry about that shit. it was a long time ago and I didn't know"
me: "Yeah, it's cool. I feel better having said that shit on stage."
him: "So you don't wanna fight or anything?"
me: "I guess not"
him: "You like whiskey? let me buy you a drink"

fucking hilarious. Except the more i think about it, the more i wish he hadn't been so damn nice, cause really, I still think the guys band sucks, I still think he's a tool, and I really don't want to be cool with him. so whatever. and I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to put dan from indiego in the hospital.

<lj:music>music on this scooby doo movie on cartoon network</lj:music>

game night last night was fun. thanks for inviting us. The fact that I had probably 5 tiebreakers with Jaime Nebergall made me a little sad i wasn't on her team for "Scene it!" but that's OK, i had the best teammate of all, even if we lost horribly.

does anyone else ever get really hungry when they see a scooby doo cartoon and shaggy eats one of those sandwiches with like 19 pieces of bread, and a different kind of meat between each one, and a bunch of hot sauce all over everything?

today i got nothin to do, if anyone wants to hang out, call the house number to save me some cell phone minutes please, 303-465-0209.

and tomorrow is snowboarding with jess, jess, and adam. I get to fall down a bunch while everyone else goes off without me. sweet! i'm actually looking forward to spending some time in the mountains alone, it'll be good to collect my thoughts.

I also got a word-of-the-day calendar for 2005....today's word is "duress -- forcible restraint or restrinction // compulsion by threat; specifically: unlawful constraint. *the defense attorney insisted his client had confessed under duress.

Enjoy!

<lj:music>man, i really want another tattoo. next week maybe?</lj:music>

Either way, it's christmas, and I'm sick...again. I'm already feeling better than i was last night and this morning, so hopefully it'll pass quickly. Regardless, I feel like shit and I'm bored. Christmas was pretty good this year, all things considered. I got a nintendo DS from Jessica, which was the surprise hit of the winter, cause she's so fucking rad. Other cool things include a new cordless phone for my room, with a cool blue ball built onto it that displays caller ID and other important functions, but it does it from the confines of this rad 3D ball. I also got a few assorted DVD's, and season one of Six Feet Under. I'm happy!

i hope everyone had a good day. Mine consisted of sitting alone in my house, with my good friend John Daniels, and finally getting around to starting the dark tower 7....i'm already 100 pages in, i'll be done with the other 900 by tuesday i can wager. I miss reading.

Everyone be safe tonight, call me and send love if you're bored.

1 final down...172 questions, and a 2 page or so essay. That was way more of a royal pain in the ass that i expected. Tomorrow (tuesday) is Audio Sweetening and History of Rock and Roll. I'm not too worried about either of those exams. wednesday i have OFF (first day off if you don't count practice as "off") with nothing to do practically all semester. sweet! Thursday I have my LAST FINAL and am officially 1 semester away from graduating. making it even better, jess is taking a class with me at CU denver next semester. sweet! making it even better, i'm flying out immediately after with Jamie to visit drew in LA, then driving back to colorado with him in zee jetta. drew will be home for 3 weeks of awesomeness. yes! life is looking good.

in technical news i got another 512 stick of ram today for a total of 1 gig. The other band member's name was not released. The alleged gunman also died at the scene, Wayne reported.

Shortly after the band began playing its first song, a man reportedly ran onto the stage and began shooting, according to a witness who identified himself as Sean. Some members of the audience reportedly thought the man running onto the stage with a gun was part of the band's act, NBC 4's Erin Tate reported.

Witnesses said that several shots were fired at the band before a bouncer tackled the gunman before he was shot and killed.

Columbus police Sgt. Brent Mull said the shooter appeared to be targeting the band members. After opening fire on the stage, the gunman turned on the crowd. At that point, an officer shot the man dead, Mall added. Police said there could have been many more fatalities had the officer not killed the gunman.

NBC 4 reported that of the surviving victims, one person was in critical condition while the other was in fair condition. Several others were treated at the scene, suffering from various injuries.

Alrosa Villa is a popular north Columbus nightspot for young adults, featuring rock and heavy metal bands, NBC 4 reported.

According to the band's Web site, Damageplan was touring nationally. It performed in Buffalo, N.Y., on Tuesday night and had a concert scheduled in Flint, Mich., on Thursday.

Damageplan featured former Pantera artists Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. The pair were joined by vocalist Patrick Lachman and bassist Bobzilla, according to their Web site.

What the FUCK man....seriously, what a way to go, playing a show and some fucking psycho comes on stage and shoots you. Most tragic guitarist death ever. It seems weird to me cause I'm just now getting into pantera again, and have listened to great southern trendkill probably every day of this week......Jeez. ok. bedtime...i guess......wtf....
